The creative space that shares “the same DNA” of its predecessor, the Tokyu Bunka Kaikan.
This space is being born to create the kind of phenomena that Roppongi, Ginza or Aoyama cannot seem to create. Like an office, a café, a gallery, or even a shop... all these elements are blended together into this new space. Taking advantage of its perfect location, which has direct access from the “Shibuya station,” a massive terminal where some 3 million people come and go every day, the new space will allow us to explore the possibilities of new types of artistic creations through Shibuya-style exchanges. The creative space that shares “the same DNA” of its predecessor, the Tokyu Bunka Kaikan. Its name is “8/”... It will go into action on the 8th floor of Shibuya Hikarie.
With the multi-purpose space called “COURT” as its center, this space called “8/” will be operated by its strong-willed dedicated members to support a variety of activities. Throw a single possibility into this space. What can it create as a shop, as a gallery or even as an office? We will think about it by connecting with people. The power of blending somewhat loosely and building something new, combined with the vibes of creation, will let us create the very phenomena that attract people like the Salon in Paris.
02/CUBE 1, 2, 3
This is a plaza open for Shibuya-style exchanges. It is a pleasant space of approximately 170 square meters covered with green carpets and is great for design and art exhibitions, workshops, short film presentations, and so forth. It is an open space where people in different communities can connect with others and with the whole wide world, i.e. producers vs. users, individuals vs. society, local communities vs. Tokyo, etc.
This consists of three gallery spaces, which accommodate exhibitions by today’s hot artists every two weeks. The GALLERY constantly presents high-spirited, art works, well suited for the limited time period. It is intended to create a comprehensive artistic portal space that provides "sweeping views" of the hottest contemporary art.
